Thanksgiving Tragedy (Current Event)

On November 18, 2012, Jasmine Benjamin, a 17 year old freshmen nursing student at Valdosta State University in Atlanta, Georgia, was found dead in her dormitory study area. According to CBS Atlanta, passers-by thought she was simply sleeping so they didn't bother her, not knowing she was dead. In addition to that, her parents were not informed. Jasmine had been dead about 12 hours before her parents were notified. Disturbingly, before police had finally notified her, she had already found out, through Facebook! No parent should find out about the death of their child on a social networking site. Her mom was forwarded a status from one of her daughter's friends about her daughters' death. Moments later a police visit to their home confirmed the news. School officials say that they notified Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department, they notified the police department, and they notified her parents. They were deeply hurt and disgusted by the fact that after a couple of hours passed no one cared to check on her. On top of that, he stepdad state "For someone to be so insensitive not to reach out to the family, or not even to keep up with what’s going on because it’s a holiday and you’re going away on vacation or whatever you’re doing — it’s very, very hurtful to say the least." I think it was very selfish of the school to stop keeping up with what's going on because it time for break and they are trying to get to their families. The death of Jasmine Benjamin was the Thanksgiving tragedy.

I Will Be A Husband...

My mom and dad were together for almost 10 years, but never married. My mom went to work daily while my dad kept jobs here and there. My mom has never been a wife but more like a husband. I too,if i have to, would play the husband role. I will be a husband that goes to school and pick up a trade while working a "good enough to get by"job. I will be a husband that would do without just to please my wife with the little i do have. I will be a husband that will finish school with my degrees in hand and go out every morning waving them in manager's faces. I will be a husband that will get the job because of my great determination, talent, and ambition. I will be a husband that will provide stability for my wife. I will get my wife and i out of the ghetto into a more civilized, quiet, friendly, and suburban neighborhood. I will be a husband that will make sure all bills are paid then cater to my wifes needs and wants. I will be a husband that spends time with my wife whenever demanded. I will demand my wife to cater to my sexual needs and i would mutually. I will be a husband that take my wife out to enjoy life. I will take her wherever she desire. And when our partying days are over, i will be a husband that will impregnate my wife. I will be a husband that, as previously stated, will make sure my wife and i are stable then Have children to enjoy. I will be a husband that will attend all of my children's extra curricular activities and reward them when they do good. And when they get beside themselves i will be a husband but more of a father and discipline them. I will be a husband to my wife but a father to my kids. I will be a husband that even when I'm right i will apologize. I will be a husband that comes home to my wife and kids after a long day of work and still entertain them. I will be a husband that will comfort, massage, and run my wife bath water even when i know i deserve it more. I will be an understanding husband. I will be a husband that will listen to my wife's day and simply say "Baby, it's going to be okay." I will also be a husband that wouldn't mind going to church on a regular basis. I will be a husband that make my family my first priority. I will be a husband, the ideal husband. I will be a husband you can grow old with. I will be a GREAT husband.

Let Me Be Forgiven!!

Going to college is a choice. College is not for everyone but some who do have an interest in college but can not afford it is a big deal to me. A student loan is one way that a student can go to college but it is just that, a loan. Throughout the years, they would eventually have to pay it all back. My thing is, if we did not have money to go to school in the first place, imagine how long it would take to pay it all back. On March 8, 2012 our current president Barack Obama introduced a new and beneficial program that college students can use. Obama Student Loan Forgiveness program clears students that have made payments regularly for a minimum of 20 years. Additionally, you must have paid at least 10% of your loan to be eligible and you get up to $45,000 in forgiveness. This program is very beneficial however, it only applies to those who have taken out a federal loan. What about those that have private loans? In my research, I learned that some private loans will forgive you of your loans but you have to work for it. I think this is a very unfair program especially for local students who don't have a choice. There are lots of determined students that deserve to be forgiven because they may just be the ones that change the world. This program should cover all loans. If I, when the time comes, take out a private loan and can not afford to pay it back, please let me be forgiven!

Should Obama be re-elecected? My position to this topic would be to choose who would be the best canidate and who will represent me 100%. I do not think he should or he shouldn't. To be truthful about the situation I believe everyone, including myself, was excited about having an African American running for president. However, do you think he made a good president, or you really didn't pay attention to his work? Were you pleased by his campaign, or his race? Let us see. Statistis show that 95% of Obama's votes came from African Americans during the 2008 elecetion. As we quickly approach election time again, do you think he will be re-elected. i am anxious to see this out come. Believe it or not many people have changed their minds about him, while others are all for him. One big issue I commend Obama on is healthcare. When I get of age I want to be able to retire and be taken care of. It is degrading to see elderly people who can not be taken care of. So, when the polls come out will you vote for Obama?
