A Farewell

This year and class has been the greatest challenge of my life. On top of personal and family problems, I managed to somehow continue to push forward. my time with Mrs. Day has been great. Although she assembled work on top of work, it was only to our benefit. she prepared us for college and that's exactly what it felt like. First and Foremost i would like to address the types of writing i learned. i learned how to write a rhetorical analysis, literary analysis, synthesis, rogerian, and tolemen paper. Of those, my best one yet has been my rhetorical analysis, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God specifically. In the beginning of the year, i was betwixted about taking this course. taking a class under the name of Mrs. Day was like riding the largest, tallest, and most frightening roller coaster ever made. As a sophomore, I heard many "horror" stories about the class so i really dreaded taking it.To make matters worse, i started the class behind because i decided to go elswhere for school then came back. As the school year progressed, i caught on quickly what to expect. In doing so, i also obtained knowledge of what type of person Mrs. Day was. Mrs. Keena Kindrick-Day is THE teacher of all teachers, an Outstanding teacher. Regardless of the mounds of work i received this year it was all to make me a better student, yet person. Lessons i learned physically and mentally i can use in the real world. Yes, i struggled greatly but i'm sure we all did from time to time, whether it was pushing for time or juggling extracurricular activities and this advanced class at the same time. i look forward to taking a class taught by Mrs. Day next school year. Hopefully i will do better with time management and hault from procrastination. This year opened my eyes to a greater me. I will try to work diligently to be a better scholar. I will get my brain accustom to the busy work so i can succeed in college. It has been a pleasure to be your student; i hope to continue to grow under your educational guidance.

Is God More Important? (Current Event)

There is nothing like going out to eat with family and friends and enjoying yourself. We may decide to go out for a romantic date, family outting, birthday, or another special occasion. Everything starts out okay. You have unfastened your belts and may have even popped a button on your shirt. However, your heaven-like moment is ruined by a small sheet of paper -the bill. In addition to your rediculously high bill, there is that even more rediculous gratuity that the restaraunts have placed on the ticket. In an article found on Yahoo, a person claiming to be a pastor left their waiter at Applebees a very unusual sidenote when returning the bill. The assumed pastor was a part of a party whose bill was over $200 and with at least 20 people, so "larger parties receive an automatic gratuity," the waitress explains. This story was so interesting to me that I had to read more. While attempting to share this article with a friend the very next day, I found that reporters had posted an update on the article previously posted. It was verified that the person claiming to be a pastor really was, SHE really was. The automated gratuity was 18%, adding up to $6.29. Her total, not including the gratuity, was $34.93. She, Pastor Alois Bell, wrote on her bill in regards to the tip, "I give God 10%," which she had a point and goes on to say, "so why do you get 18?" She goes further scratching out the gratuity amount and places a "0" on the additional tip line. This minor issue evolved into a big issue all in one day. Pasor Bell found out about the posting of the bill, called the Applebees in which she dined and complained. All of this resulted in the waitress getting fired. The waitress explained that this type of situation was not addressed anywhere in the handbook. Pastor Bell argues, "I’ve brought embarrassment to my church and ministry." However the waitress challenges it with, "If this person wrote the note, obviously they wanted it seen by someone." The waitress explains in her last remarks the she's "been stiffed on tips before, but this is the first time I’ve seen the Big Man used as reasoning."

Thanksgiving Tragedy (Current Event)

On November 18, 2012, Jasmine Benjamin, a 17 year old freshmen nursing student at Valdosta State University in Atlanta, Georgia, was found dead in her dormitory study area. According to CBS Atlanta, passers-by thought she was simply sleeping so they didn't bother her, not knowing she was dead. In addition to that, her parents were not informed. Jasmine had been dead about 12 hours before her parents were notified. Disturbingly, before police had finally notified her, she had already found out, through Facebook! No parent should find out about the death of their child on a social networking site. Her mom was forwarded a status from one of her daughter's friends about her daughters' death. Moments later a police visit to their home confirmed the news. School officials say that they notified Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department, they notified the police department, and they notified her parents. They were deeply hurt and disgusted by the fact that after a couple of hours passed no one cared to check on her. On top of that, he stepdad state "For someone to be so insensitive not to reach out to the family, or not even to keep up with what’s going on because it’s a holiday and you’re going away on vacation or whatever you’re doing — it’s very, very hurtful to say the least." I think it was very selfish of the school to stop keeping up with what's going on because it time for break and they are trying to get to their families. The death of Jasmine Benjamin was the Thanksgiving tragedy.

I Will Be A Husband...

My mom and dad were together for almost 10 years, but never married. My mom went to work daily while my dad kept jobs here and there. My mom has never been a wife but more like a husband. I too,if i have to, would play the husband role. I will be a husband that goes to school and pick up a trade while working a "good enough to get by"job. I will be a husband that would do without just to please my wife with the little i do have. I will be a husband that will finish school with my degrees in hand and go out every morning waving them in manager's faces. I will be a husband that will get the job because of my great determination, talent, and ambition. I will be a husband that will provide stability for my wife. I will get my wife and i out of the ghetto into a more civilized, quiet, friendly, and suburban neighborhood. I will be a husband that will make sure all bills are paid then cater to my wifes needs and wants. I will be a husband that spends time with my wife whenever demanded. I will demand my wife to cater to my sexual needs and i would mutually. I will be a husband that take my wife out to enjoy life. I will take her wherever she desire. And when our partying days are over, i will be a husband that will impregnate my wife. I will be a husband that, as previously stated, will make sure my wife and i are stable then Have children to enjoy. I will be a husband that will attend all of my children's extra curricular activities and reward them when they do good. And when they get beside themselves i will be a husband but more of a father and discipline them. I will be a husband to my wife but a father to my kids. I will be a husband that even when I'm right i will apologize. I will be a husband that comes home to my wife and kids after a long day of work and still entertain them. I will be a husband that will comfort, massage, and run my wife bath water even when i know i deserve it more. I will be an understanding husband. I will be a husband that will listen to my wife's day and simply say "Baby, it's going to be okay." I will also be a husband that wouldn't mind going to church on a regular basis. I will be a husband that make my family my first priority. I will be a husband, the ideal husband. I will be a husband you can grow old with. I will be a GREAT husband.

Let Me Be Forgiven!!

Going to college is a choice. College is not for everyone but some who do have an interest in college but can not afford it is a big deal to me. A student loan is one way that a student can go to college but it is just that, a loan. Throughout the years, they would eventually have to pay it all back. My thing is, if we did not have money to go to school in the first place, imagine how long it would take to pay it all back. On March 8, 2012 our current president Barack Obama introduced a new and beneficial program that college students can use. Obama Student Loan Forgiveness program clears students that have made payments regularly for a minimum of 20 years. Additionally, you must have paid at least 10% of your loan to be eligible and you get up to $45,000 in forgiveness. This program is very beneficial however, it only applies to those who have taken out a federal loan. What about those that have private loans? In my research, I learned that some private loans will forgive you of your loans but you have to work for it. I think this is a very unfair program especially for local students who don't have a choice. There are lots of determined students that deserve to be forgiven because they may just be the ones that change the world. This program should cover all loans. If I, when the time comes, take out a private loan and can not afford to pay it back, please let me be forgiven!

Should Obama be re-elecected? My position to this topic would be to choose who would be the best canidate and who will represent me 100%. I do not think he should or he shouldn't. To be truthful about the situation I believe everyone, including myself, was excited about having an African American running for president. However, do you think he made a good president, or you really didn't pay attention to his work? Were you pleased by his campaign, or his race? Let us see. Statistis show that 95% of Obama's votes came from African Americans during the 2008 elecetion. As we quickly approach election time again, do you think he will be re-elected. i am anxious to see this out come. Believe it or not many people have changed their minds about him, while others are all for him. One big issue I commend Obama on is healthcare. When I get of age I want to be able to retire and be taken care of. It is degrading to see elderly people who can not be taken care of. So, when the polls come out will you vote for Obama?
